A Little Bit About Us

Margaret Brown at The Art of Antiquing in Round Pond, Maine

The Art of Antiquing is located in the center of Round Pond, in a restored old building. The shop—curated by Margaret Brown—is a European and United Kingdom-sourced antiques business featuring incredible finds spanning the centuries.

We live in London during the winter months and as soon as the weather turns, we make our way to our home in Maine. Our Round Pond antiques store is brimming with a broad array of pieces that can’t be found anywhere else.

We specialize in unique, sometimes dramatic, one-off pieces. As a result, things are always changing here, which makes each visit to our store a shopping experience unto itself—no two trips will ever be alike.

What you could find when you visit

While we’re in Maine—and even when we’re in the UK—our contacts are keeping us in touch with interesting must-haves for our clientele, including special antique pieces and collectibles from France, England, and Italy that are destined to become conversation starters and favorite heirlooms.

The Art of Antiquing is the sole US source for a fine line of fabrics by the British Olicana Textiles, based in Yorkshire in the United Kingdom. Olicana is carried by companies such as Liberty and Heal’s in London. From the outset, they worked alongside a renowned British designer in their product development, who was instrumental in both design and the colour of the fabric collections. Olicana Textiles produces fabrics for many worldwide projects which vary from royal palaces to private residential interiors. Today, the company continues to produce some of the original collections, taking inspiration from them to create a whole new range of fabrics that are widely specified for both domestic and commercial interiors worldwide. The Art of Antiquing will be carrying Olicana’s Cabot, Columbus, Melton, Antarctic and Magellan lines for use in upholstery and home goods.
